_ 27 _
•
L~
will be used for the stability analyses.
Permeability testing will be performed on soils that
will form the foundation of the proposed waste disposal pile.
Rock testing will be performed only if critical dividing
planes are found in the Mancos Shale below the proposed waste
pile and below the existing crushing and screening level fill.
Direct shear testing would then be performed on these planes
to evaluate the available shearing resistance. It cannot be
excluded that some additional tests, such as slake durability
tests would be performed on the Mancos Shale. It may also be
necessary to perform swell-consolidation tests on the same
type of rock.
7.6 STABILITY ANALYSES
A series of stability analyses will be performed during
Phase 2. These analyses will include the evaluation of
existing cuts and fills and of the cut and fill slopes after
reclamation.
A set of analyses will be necessary to evaluate the
stability of the future waste disposal pile. Within these
analyses, the stability of the foundations of the pile will
be analyzed as well.
*'c k>F k::
•
July 16, 1981
GEO-HYDRO CONSULTING, INC.
Michal Bukovansky
Senior Engineering Geologist
~roQO ca+w~nNC, wc.
