Mapping Unit X2F
• Roxal Variant-Lymanson-Starman complex
These shallow and moderately deep soils are on steep and very steep
mountain sideslopes. These soils formed in sandstone. The only known
tract of this occurs at Mine 2 in the 20900 Least tract. The native
vegetation on this site is sagebrush. Roxal Variant soils make up about
35 percent of this unit, Lymanson makes up about 30 percent, and Starman
makes up about 20 percent. Small areas of Abor silty clay loam, and
Rock outcrop are included in this unit.
Typically the Roxal Variant soil has a brown sandy loam surface layer
about 2 inches thick. The underlying material is a brown sandy clay
loam about 6 inches thick over a light olive brown silty clay loam. At
• 27 inches is weathered soft shale.
Permeability of the Roxal Variant is moderately slow. Available water
capacity is low. Surface runoff is rapid and erosion hazard is high
from water.
Typically the Lymanson soil has a dark grayish brown loam surface about
2 inches thick. The subsoil is a brown heavy loam about 10 inches
thick. The substratum is a grayish brown silty clay loam about 16
inches thick over soft weathered shale.
Permeability of the Lymanson soil is moderate. Available water capacity
• is low. Surface runoff is rapid and erosion hazard is high from water.
-18-
4
