The vegetative cover was again about
10 to 12 percent with vetch being the dominant species accompanied by mostly
wheatgrasses with some fescue. More weeds of the same type occurred on this side
of the Swale. The cover crop was still standing and mulch still on the slope. On
the south side of this area, diversion ditches occurred at intervals along the slope
to control erosion.
Bench Area
On the bench that was created at the south side o[ the reclaimed area, the
vegetative cover was approximately 20 percent composed almost entirely of
wheatgrasses. The cover crop was standing and mulch was evident. 'Rees that had
been transplanted into the area in a few clusters did not appear to have survived
but would still provide wildlife habitat.
• Slope Below Bench
This was the steepest part of the reclaimed area. The vegetative cover was
approximately 20 percent composed oP a variety of species including vetch, Cescue,
brome, and wheatgrasses. Weld lettuce was abundant on the slope in an almost
shrubby [orm. [t was heavily grazed. The cover crop and mulch were present.
Gully Repair
This area is located immediately south of the previously reclaimed area and
is small in size (less than one acre). The percent vegetative cover is approximately
80 percent with the majority (70%) being made up o[ weeds including thistle,
lambsquarter, mustard, and Russian thistle. The remaining cover was made up of
wheatgrasses with a small amount of brome.
l~
- 352 - (Rev. 5/86)
