Ehmett, Deputy Director
Alblzquerque Field Office (AFO), Robert Inman, Mining
Engineer, PJestern Support Section (WSC) and Catherine
W. Begej,Reclamation Specialist, of Colorado Mined LAnd
Reclamation Division (NERD).
It was determined the pits in question (Grassy Gap Pits
5 and 6) were mined during an interim mining permit and
were mined and reclaimed prior to 1985.
The reclamation of the premining area was not returned
to the exact same contours as those prior to mining,
however, the contours are similar. The backfilling
of the highwall of Pit 5 is approximately 3 to 1
• (steeper than the original contour} but is stable and
has been, to date, successfully revegetated.
