Division 1, W. District 1
Deaz Mr. Allison:
We have reviewed [he above referenced proposal to establish a "dry" gravel mining operation
on a 86.3 acre site. The application materials indicate that ground water will not be encountered
and the mining will all occur in the dry. Water for dust control will be hauled to the site in a
tanker truck. The proposed sources of water to fill the tanker truck is to be "obtained by permission
from stock ponds, springs in the azea, or hauled from the County shop,in Greeley.` The applicant
should be awaze that water cannot be diverted from a structure for non decreed uses during any
periods of river administration. We recommend that county personnel consult the Water
Commissioner, Ms. Maybel Cunning, at 423-5521, before securing water from any source other
than the County shop. We have no objection the proposal if the recommendation above is
complied with.
If you have any questions in this matter, please contact me.
Sincerely,
John Scharer, P.E.
Senior Water Resource Engineer
JS/js/usr962.sdv
cc: Alan Berryman, Division Engineer
Maybel Cunning, Water Commissioner
Kenneth Schraeder, Mining Supervisor
