EXHIBIT D (Cont'd)
Mining Plan. Mining will occur in six stages so as to
minimize surface disturbances on the affected land at any one
time. Map Exhibit D-1 delineates the proposed mining stages,
the sequence of mining and the estimated time duration of each
mining stage. Stages 1 through 5 will be excavated; Stage L
will be a loading area on the north side of the river and will
not be mined.
Mining will begin on the west end of the property (Stage 1,
Exhibit D-1) and will progress to the eastern part of the
affected land (Stage 5, Exhibit D-1). A processing and wash
plant will be located in Stage 5 near the river. Excavated
material will be moved from the pit to the processing plant by
conveyor. This method will minimize dugitive dust. It is
expected that the plant and necessary associated stockpiles will
occupy approximately 14.OOt acres in the northwest part of
Stage 5 during the mining of Stages 1 through 4 and the early
part of Stage 5. Eventually, the plant will be moved and the
location it occupied will be excavated. A suspended conveyor
across the Colorado River will convey specification aggregate
from the wash plant to Stage L, the loading facility on the
north side of the river.
Along the north boundary of the property the excavation
line (a line indicating the limits of the excavation) has been
set back 100 feet from the existing south boundary of the river
channel; on the east and west property houndaries the setback
is 30 feet; on the south the setback is. 50 feet from the county
road right-of-way.
- 8-
