n
U
acres, then, in most cases, it would be safe to implement some topsoiling and
revegetation work. Circumstances which would cause a different pattern would be
where a large finger of gravel was being extracted and the entire area would need
to be open for extraction, stockpiling, processing, and roadways. In that case,
revegetation would not be implemented until the entire finger of gravel was
removed. As a rule, a minimum of about 20 acres is needed to extract, process,
and stockpile, provided the location and topography is fairly level and does not
exhibit any strange characteristics.
Looking at the reclamation as well as the mining plan maps it can be seen
•
r1
LJ
that, Phase I will need to be practically finished before any revegetation can be
done there. Phase II, on the other hand, is a totally different situation where
the 25 to 30 acre rule could easily be applied. Phase III is somewhat limited in
some locations, but here too the 25 to 30 acre rule could be applied for the most
part.
Phases IV and V, on the other hand, are totally different. The highly
dissected land in this area will require, in many instances, that entire logical
mining units within the phase be completed before reclamation is implemented.
page 10 of 10 Exhibit E
