The
local 'newspaper supports the project because of what it
will bring to the areas' economy. More than ever, our
nation needs reliable domestic sources of energy that will
add stability to our economy.
Like any project, there are going to be impacts. In this
case, there is going to be points of entry on the surface.
However, look at the reclamation that occurred near Cameo.
After the mine was closed, the surface was reclaimed by
textuxing and seeding the hillside. This effort can be seen
along I-70. The same will happen someday after the Cameo
coal seam has been completely mined.
For the Cameo power facility to continue operation into the
future, it will be nice to know the supply of local, low
' sulfur coal will be available foz another SO something
years.
Anyway, please make sure that as the 9LM writes the draft
environmental impact statement, people understand just how
important it is to our economy and electrical supply that
America has long-term reliable supplies of low-sulfur coal.
Thanks for allowing my inpuC regarding this issue.
Best,
Mike Lawson
~~~%~
OL ~ G~
2 9 P , ~ /~y
G 5, c~ s., ~3
