I believe that the concerns are caused by a
lack of knowledge on mine processes.

CAM-Colorado, LLC will mitigate water concerns. The company uses recycled water
as they are washing the coal they are constantly reusing the water, thus reducing
the burden of water consumption. CAM's use of recycled water is sensitive to the ,
arid nature of this environment. We should commend them on their conservation.
It is important that CAM-Colorado is vocal about its water use. CAM should continue
a practice of working with the people in the area to make sure everyone is okay with
the final product. At the same time, the BLM needs to make is clear that CAM's
proposed mine will not adversely affect water.
I
As stated before, many of the water concerns stem from a lack of current
understanding of mine procedures. In contrast to historical mining activities,
modern mining operations are well designed, operated and regulated. Concerns
raised about water use should not be marginalized and at the same time current
operational procedures should not be overlooked.
It is common knowledge that the Colorado coat mining industry is fully committed
to safe environmental practices. The industry routinely uses environmental
protection measures including sophisticated containment and monitoring systems;
detailed engineering designs and controls; best management practices; and water
conservation measures involving reuse and recycling.
Best regards,
49~~06
ames Bruner 618 ~/z W Indian Creek Dr. Grand Junction, CO 81506
