I•

L J
Large rock (18° to 30" diameter) obtained from the cover material will be
segregated and distributed on the completed slopes following topsoil placement to
provide for small animal habitat and blend more closely with the adjacent slopes.
Placement will be random with spacing varying from 50-feet to150-feet.
Final reclamation will include completion of the cover material including topsoil
and construction of the permanent diversion and collection ditches. Revegetation will
be in accordance with Section 3.9.6.
The seed mixture(s) will be hydroseeded or broadcast seeded. Seedbed
preparation for all disturbed areas shall consist of extensive roughening by track hoe
gouging (pocking) or other preparation technique approved by the BLM. Extensive
roughening provides for increased moisture retention and favorable micro sites for plant
establishment.
All seeded areas will be mulched with certified weed free grass hay or straw.
Approximately two tons of mulch will be used on each acre seeded. Straw or hay will
be anchored using a tackifier, netting, or a tackifier mixed with wood or wood/paper
fiber. The tackifier will be applied in accordance with manufacture's specifications with
consideration of the type and quantity of mulch applied, slope, soil conditions and other
applicable factors.
Inspection
The waste rock disposal area will be inspected for stability on a quarterly basis
by a qualified engineer. In addition the area will be inspected during the following critical
periods: removal of all organic material, large boulders and topsoil as previously
described, installation of surtace drainage systems, placement and compaction of fill
materials, and during revegetation. A report will be provided to the Division by the
inspecting engineer within two weeks of the completed inspections. A copy of this
report will be kept at the mine site.
Permit Renewal
2-18
09/03
