•
COMMERCE CITY
nspan.~r ywaek mo.}e
March 10, 2000
iii iiiiiiii~iiu iii
999
~~ ~u r x
~p 2
a°°

/'~ ~
Division of Minerals and Geology
Room 215
1313 Sherman Street
Denver, CO 80203
Re: Tanabe Pit Application for Regular (112) Construction Materials Operation
Reclamation Permit
To Whom It May Concern:
In regazds to Mobile Premix Concrete, Inc, filing for a Regular (112) Construction
Materials Operation Reclamation Permit for the Tanabe Pit located in Section 10
Township 2 South, Range 67 West, 6'h Prime Meridian, we have several engineering
concerns. This proposed operation raises questions on imparts to the regional
drainage and transportation system, including:
1. This site is in ar near the 1° Creek Regonal Drainage Way floodway/channel. It is
extremely important that this channeUfloodway is available to convey storm water
drainage from the entire 1° Creek drainage basin to the South Platte River.
Therefore, we are concerned than this operation as requested may alter the ability
for the drainage to be conveyed through here and will negatively impact the
regional drainage system.
2. Since it appear that the Tanabe Pit borders both Brighton Road on the west side,
and East 112`" Avenue on the North side, it is important for the regional
transportation system that adequate right-of--way for these roadways be preserved.
Since both of these roads play an important part in the area transportation system,
they are classified as either ma}or collectors or minor arterials in the City's
roadway system and will require an ultimate right-of--way width of 80 to 120 feet.
If this operation does not account for this needed right-of--way, then the roadway
system will be harmed and the futwe operation of the transportation network will
be negatively impacted.
In addition to the long range concerns outlined above, the operation of this pit also
raises several other concerns for the azea, including:
1. The haul routes used in this operation will bring an abundance of heavy trucks to
either the intersection of Brighton Road and East 104th Avenue, or to East 112r°
Avenue and US highway 85. Neither of these intersections are ideal for this type
of traffic and will present a safety hazard to the genera! traveling public.
ZOO ~SOG'd SL?Z# $XKGM ~I75f1d nIL~ 2~tl F!•::~iG_ 53TBSBZEGE ?000 OGOZ,e:'h'a i~i
^
