• COMPLETION OF AMW-2
Ground-Water Monitor Well AMW-2 Installation
1) The boring was advance using 13.6-inch outside diameter hollow-stem auger.
2) Six-inch diameter, flush joint, thread-coupled, Schedule-40 PVC pipe was
placed to the total depth of the boring inside the hollow stem auger. The
bottom 12 feet of pipe consisted of 0.02 inch factory-slotted PVC screen and a
2 foot silt trap.
3) The annular space around the pipe was backfilled through the hollow-stem
auger from the bottom to approximately 3 feet above the screened interval with
pea gravel.
4) A 3-foot bentonite seal was placed above the sand pack to isolate the zone of
interest from infiltration.
5) A cement grout was placed from top of the bentonite seal to the ground
surface.
6) A steel protective cover was installed over the well to protect it from damage.
•
ABANDONMENT OF OLD AMW-2
Cement grout was pumped down the 4 1/2" casing annulus to the surface. The
casing was cut off three (3) feet below the surface, capped, and back filled. The
slurry mixture was pumped by dropping the pump hose down the annulus and
raising the hose as the space filled to eliminate air pockets and promote settling.
•
57c 4/93
