STATE OF COLORADO
DIVISION OF MINERALS AND GEOLOGY //
Department of Natural Resources
1313 Sherman St., Room 215
Denver, Colorado 80203 A
Phone: (303) 866-3567 ^
FAX: (303) 832-8106 &s'
o;~@o
OFCpS CFO
November 30, 2005 ~ ,~~~'~se ~`
Alan or David Chiles
Rim Rock Exploration and Development v
P.O. Box 482
Nucla, Colorado 81424
Re: JBirds Mine Application M-2005-050, Initial Financial Warranty Estimate.
Dear Mr. Chiles:
COLORADO
DIVISION O F
MIN&RALS
GEOLOGY
RECIAMATION•MI NING
SAFETY~S<IENCE
Bill Owens
Governor
Russell George
Executive Director
Ronald W. Cottony
Division Director
Natural Resource Trustee
The Division of Minerals and Geology staff has estimated the reclamation liability for the above
referenced proposed site. The estimate is based on 2 acres of surface disturbance which includes a waste
pile, office /staging area, a portal and a vent hole. Please review the enclosed estimate and contact staff
if there are any enors or clarifications that affect the estimate.
If Rim Rock is satisfied with the estimate, the initial Financial Warranty for the permit will be set at
$16,646.00. From that point, staff will review the bond every 3 years and adjust the mount for inflation,
reclamation work done and or additional disturbances.
It appears that Rim Rock has addressed all other issues with the Division. At this point, staff is waiting
for the Bureau of Land Management to finish its work to ensure no additional issues that could affect the
DMG permit are presented. Rim Rock may elect to finish up the Division permit prior to BLM's final
approval. However, if additional issues were noted within the Division's jurisdiction, a Technical
Revision (TR) to the DMG approved permit would be required. The permit would have to be active in
order to do this, which means the submission and approval of the bond and fees for a TR.
If you need additional information, please contact me at the Division of Minerals and Geology, Grand
Jlmction Field Office, 101 South Third Street, Room 301, Grand Junction, Colorado 81501, telephone
no. 970-241-1117.
Sincerely,
. -f~
G.
