OVERBURDEN MATERIAL AND CHARACTERISTICS
• Beside the electric log of Exhibit I, is written the general lithology
of the overburden material. The general lithology has been determined from
drill hole cuttings, core descriptions, and interpretation of the electric loge.
I[ should be noted that thick, cliff forming sandstone members are found in
the overburden above the seams to be mined.
There ie an excellent correlation of strata between Drill Hole SL-22
and all of .the other holes drilled on the Sun land property.
On the left aide of the electric log there is shown the minimum depth
of overburden under whici~ mining is to be conducted. These minimum depths of
cover are at the projected recovery line near the outcrop of the seams.
The following Table 1 shows the rock quality determination made from
an examination of the cores of roof material taken from Drill Hole SL-21.
The determinations made are that the roof strength quality for the zone 3
bed was excellent and the roof material for the two Plnnacle seams was classified
as fair, with regard to rock strength.
• f~I:N1iRA1. EIININC PLAN
The general mining plan for extraction is the room and pillar method.
lintries will be driven into the areas to be mined. Rooms will be advanced
off the entries and the pillars in the rooms extracted when pulling out of
each room. When all the room mining has been completed, the pillars in the
rutrics will also be pulled un retreat. The overall percentage of extraction
is expected to be about 80 percent.
STkUCTURE AND RENEWABLE RESOURCE; SURVEY
A survey was made by observation in the field and through the use of
r.:runt (octuber 7979) social photographs to determine tho presence of permanent
structures and renewable resources which may exist over the areas whore coal is
to he extracted and un the lnmiediately adjoining areas. Located un the leased
lands in the southwest quarter of the northwest quarter of SecClon 22 are three
Luildings; one residence type building used in the summer and two out-buildings.

2 r96
D.
