B. What alternatives to this project (if any) have been consic:ered:?
The reason for rejecting these alternatives?
None. The county government and state highway department require t:he
acceleration/deceleration lane be built as a safety measure for• a r~ew
access onto U. S. 6.
{Vhat would be the consequences of not building this project? l~rafi'ic flow
along the stretch of highway would be hazardous. Please note i:hat Clear
Creek County government made the acceleration/deceleration lanes mandatory.
9. Anticipated life span of the project (e.g., an irrigation project
may last 25 years)?
Until the Colorado Highway Department closes the road.
10. What steps will be taken to reduce any adverse effects of this project
(e.g. reseeding, not utilizing heavy equipment in the water, etc.)?
These steps should be described in detail.
Proper construction methods will be used to return the affected river banks
as close to their existing condition as possible. Our measurements indicate
the amount of fill placed in the river will not affect the river flow
appreciably. We do not expect £o have heavy equipment in the creek bed
proper. The banks of the fill area will be broken rock and not suitable
for revegetation. In time, some natural invasion is expected to occur.
A bert R.
