The site is north and west of Gillett, <br />in Teller County, The elevation of the area is <br />appro;:imately 9?iii; feet. with mean annual rainfall of about <br />18 inches ar~d additional amounts of moisture in the form of <br />snow. Current land use is grazeable rangeland, and aniv a <br />limited amount of shrubs are present on the site. See <br />attached copies of aerial and topographic information for <br />site location information. <br />Soils have nct been mapped in the area yet as the Teller <br />County Soil St_rrvey is still being carried out. Soils <br />generally correspond to the Rl-Raleigh, very gravelly SL unit-- <br />see attachments. The site is j!tst east of Fot.trmile F'oad, <br />and tapers to the east ar~d southeast to an intermittent <br />drainagewav--the ~!.pper r?aches of West f3?aver Creek. Slopes <br />range from 3 percent. on the upper, flatter part of the site. <br />to abo!tt 6 to IG percent on the lower part of the unit. <br />Mean average air temperature is appro:;imately 42 degrees F. <br />~]n Febr~_tary 4, 1993 ]esse Btelz and myself made a site visit <br />to the area. Vegetative types were informally inventoried, <br />due to the snow cover preventing a more in-depth review, and <br />the results are listed below. <br />Lirasses: Arizona fesc~_te, prairie .j!tnegrass, sl imstem <br />and mountain muhly. <br />5hr~_tbs: Shrubby cinquefoil , fringed sagebrush and <br />rabb i tbr!tsh . <br />Forb=_: Fenstemon, asters, herbaceo~_ts cinquefoil, and <br />bucl: when*_ . <br />F'eciama*_tion Flan, and Comments <br />The cit•~ plans to use Fourmile kvad as a haul road to reach <br />fligriway ~7, due t~~ its immediate pro::imi+.y tv the gravel <br />site. From b to 8 inches of topsoil will be left on the <br />sit? after mining, from soil stoc4::piled at the commencement <br />
