~i
6.4.7 Exhibit G~ Water Information (revision 5/01)
Shook Gravel Pit #1
Township 1 North, Range 52 West
SW 1/4 of Section 26
S 1/2 of Section 27
The operation is not expected to directly affect surface or ground water
systems in the project area but we have included the following:
(1) On the Exhibit C map the location of a stock well ,the well not in
use and the dry creek bed.
(2) We are on the western edge of the Ogallala Aquifer.
(3) Natural rainwater runoff should not be affected in the dry creek
area due to the existing deep gravel bed. Removal of gravel
for the road maintenance and construction, if anything, should
create somewhat of a shallow holding area in the creek bed for
recharge. No contamination or environmental problems should
occur.
(4) Project water requirements, flow rates and annual volumes for the
mining phases are not applicable.
(5) The State of Colorado Division of Water Resources statement is
attached.
19. Mining in and around Brunker Creek impact and quality was addressed
in #3 above.
The aquifer water, that is being pumped for the stock wells, should
not be affected because of impem~eabfe shale, rock and limestone
Zones, as depicted by well drill cuttings information on the well
permits.
20. Both wells exist on the site and are shown on the map. We have added
the well permit numbers to the map, by the wells. The older well, located on
the S W -SE of section 27, is no longer in use. Copies of the well permits are
included, and will indicate the depth of the wells, completion information etc.
The wells will be protected by no mining coming within 200 feet of the wells.
