' The Colorado Division of Wildlife (CDOW) and the United States
Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) will review this exploration
plan in order to provide necessary clearances. It is not
' anticipated that exploration activities will negatively impact
the wildlife populations.
Endangered or Threatened Species:
No known endangered or threatened animal species are known to
occur in the project area. No known threatened, endangered or
sensitive plant species are known to occur within the area.
' Cultural or Archaeological Resources:
No known sites of cultural interest are located within the area.
' There is however the possibility that unidentified cultural
resources exist within the project area. Prior to drilling and
access road construction, site specific Class III cultural
' surveys will be conducted. The findings of these surveys will be
provided to the B.L.M. and D.M.G. prior to any surface disturbing
activities.
1
3482.1(a)(3)(iv) - Narrative Description of Exploration Methods:
t Two primary methods of data collection are proposed in this
application; they are:
' 1.) Drilling, and
2.) Seismic Surveying
' Each type of program is described below.
' DRILLING OPERATIONS:
It is planned to drill up to forty seven exploration holes under
1 the approved Federal Coal Exploration License. The drill holes
are designated as sites FED-1 through FED-47. Depending upon
additional data requirements, any of the holes (at its respective
location) may be twinned for the purpose of further geologic or
' hydrologic testing. Each of the sites are shown on Map 1,
Proposed Federal Coal Exploration License and Table 2, Proposed
Exploration Drill Holes.
' Methods
' It is anticipated that the drilling will be conducted as a year-
18
1
