• transmitting water to or from the overlying stream and root zone. <br />This fact is documented by the decline in the alluvial well water <br />levels in the fall, as shown on Figure 6, Alluvial Ground Water level <br />Hydrographs; the low water table reflected on Map 6, Fish Creek Tipple <br />Stream Channel Cross-Sections; and the lack of base flow to the <br />intermittent streams in the summer months from ground water <br />contribution: The water table under the intermittent. streams is <br />lowered substantially by underflow drainage in summer, and by October <br />the water table is below the root zone, as reflected on Map 6, Fish <br />Creek Tipple Stream Channel Cross-Sections. <br />As discussed under Rule 2.04.7, <br />drains the ground water discharge <br />lithology of the Fish Creek allu <br />Middle Creek, in late summer the <br />table in the alluvium, as shown <br />Channel Cross-Sections. <br />the perennial stream of Fish Creek <br />area of Twentymile Park. Moisture in the capillary zone can supply water to the root <br />zone, thus providing sub-irrigation to plants. An increase in <br />relative soil moisture depth within the root zone would indicate <br />capillary action supporting plant growth. Neutron probe access tube <br />measurements were taken in the intermittent and perenial stream <br />valleys in the proposed permit and adjacent area during October of <br />1980 Soil moisture measurements obtained at the time of year indicate <br />consumptive use of alluvial ground water by plants. <br />Results from the geophysical soil moisture measurements in the <br />floodplains of Middle and Fish Creeks indicate that the root zone does <br />• <br />2.06-17 <br />
