(ii) There is sufficient water to support agricultural
• activities as evidenced by:
(A) The existence of flood irrigation in the area in
question or its historical use;
{B) The capability of an area to be flood irrigated,
based on stream-flow water yield, soils, water quality, topography and
regional practices; or
(C) Subirrigation on the lands in question, derived
from the ground water system of the valley floor.
RESPONSE:
A field investigation and technical evaluation of all drainages
containing streams within and adjacent to the proposed permit area has
been conducted in accordance with Rule 2.06.8 (3) and the OSM
"Alluvial Valley Floors Guidelines". The investigation consisted of
reconnaissance of the general area shown on Map 3, Twentymile Park
• Hydrology, and detailed research of the proposed permit and adjacent
area shown on Map 5, Fish Creek Tipple Hydrology. The investigation
was conducted using the scientific method of reviewing available
literature; defining the categories of data collection and the areas
to be studied in detail; collecting field data and observations;
assimilating data into tables, diagrams and maps; interpreting the
data in each category; and drawing final conclusions. In accordance
with Rule 2.06.8, this report is divided into three major subheadings:
Geomorphic Characteristics; Water Availability Characteristics; and
Alluvial Valley Floor Determination.
GEOMORPHIC CHARACTERISTICS
Mapping of Unconsolidated Deposits
The investigation was initiated by mapping unconsolidated deposits in
the permit and adjacent area, using geologic maps, aerial photographs
and field observations. Geologic information was used from the
Geologic Map of Routt County, Colorado Geologic Survey, 1975, by A.E.
•
2.06-11
