The area to be cleared will be identified and flagged on
the ground prior to start of timber clearance in the presence of the BLM
forester.
The reclamation costs and proposed bond, as shown in Exhibit L of the
application, are based on the assumption that no more than 20± acres will be
in disturbance at any one time during the life of the mine. In order to
monitor the adherance to this assumption we require:
3. The operator will submit, on an annual basis, a sufficiently detailed map
showing and a table summarizing, the areas within the permit area which
are being mined, are in some phase of reclamation or are totally reclaimed.
The site conditions will probably not allow a significant survival rate for
seeded shrubs which are included in the submitted reclamation species list in
Exhibit E. We would recommend that these shrubs be omitted. Existing
conditions seem to favor Indian ricegrass and western wheatgrass and we would
substitute these two species giving the following species list:
4. Species PLS/acre (broadcast)
Indian ricegrass (Paloma) 6.00
Western wheatgrass (Arriba) 8.00
Slender wheatgrass 8.00
Blue grams 3.00
Should you have any questions on this, please contact Ed Ginouves, Grand
Junction District Office at 243-6552 or Dan Sokal, Glenwood Springs Resource
Area at 945-2341.
Sincerely,
~ ~ P
Richard M.
