After plaoHnPnt.in the stockpile, the stockpile will
be revegetated aocorYiirxj to the Revegetation Plan in Section 2.05.4 (2) (e) .
Stockpiled topsoil aryl other materials shall not be moved until required
for recL~*rilxrtion on a disturbed area. See Maps 8-1, 6A-2A through G,
Map 8-6, 8-7 aryl the Orchard Valley West Mine Fbrtal Topsoil Plaoe~nent and
Sediment GUrrtrol drawing in the Soils Appendix, Volume 9 for the present
locations of topsoil storage areas.
Redistribution
Prior to redistribution of topsoil an areas to be revegetated, a return
depth of suitable topsoil will be dercr,,,;.,al, Regraded materials which
have become hard packed or smooth surfaced would be scarified to an 8-inch
depth with a dozer to eliminate slippage surfaces acrd promote root
penetration. Topsoil will then be redistributed at an approximately
uniform, stable thiclaress with scrapers, front end loaders or dozers. The
thic]aress of returned topsoil will be consistent with post-mining land
uses, slopes, and the surface water drainage system. The proposed salvage
acrd return depths of new disturbance shall be sutanitted to aryl approved by
• the Division. Also, topsoil shall be placed in such a manner as to
prevent excess camaction and be protected frmn wind and water erosion
before arri after it is seeded and planted.
Proposed Topsoil Harrdlira Prooedurws
The waste disposal area will be sart¢rled upon enlargement of the disposal
area to the Fast Ridge disposal area. Any enlargement will be based on
mine waste rock a„r,,,,+~. Presently 8" - 9" of topsoil is being salvaged
aryl returned to the West Ridge disposal area.
As the rock slope entries would be faced-up in existing cut slopes, no
topsoil is available for removal and storage. A narraa strip of oakbrvsh
acrross the slope above the proposed belt and intake portals sites
indicates rmdisturbed soils may exist. Should the portals' construction
extend into this vegetated area, the "A" and "B" horizons, approximately
24-inches of soil, world be removed and stored as topsoil. The areas of
fill foundations would also be stripped of topsoil, if any, and prepared
for fill placement. Topsoil would be removed, stored, and redistributed
as described earlier in this section.
Revised 08/02/90
• 62
