A <br />high content of accumulated calcium carbonate is between depths of 6 <br />and 21 inches. <br />Permeability of th• Cascajo soil is moderately rapid to rapid. <br />Available water capacity is low. Effective rooting depth is 60 inches <br />or more. Runoff is medium to very high, and the hazard of water <br />erosion is moderate to very high. <br />This unit is used for rangeland. <br />Tha potential plant community on this unit is mainly sideoats <br /> <br />grams, blue grams, needleandthread, Indian ricegrass, and little <br />bluestam. Tha average annual production of air-dry vegetation ~s <br />about 800 pounds per acre. If the condition of the range <br />deteriorates, red threeawn and annual fortis increase. <br />This unit is poorly suited to homesite development. The main <br />limitations era shallow depth to shale bedrock and steepness of Slope. <br />This map unit is in capability subclass VIIe, nonirrigated.
