<br />Rock outcrop is mainly short cliffs, ledges, and crags consist~~g <br />of gneiss or granite. Cliffs era about 20 to 75 feet high. Slope .s <br />45 to 80 percent where not vertical. <br />This unit is used for watershed, wildlife habitat, and recreation. <br />The potential plant community is mainly Douglas-fir and some white <br />fir with an understory of common .juniper, kinnikinnick, and Oregon- <br />grape. Tha potential production of native understory vegetation in <br />normal years is about 100 pounds per acre. <br />The t_akehslen soil is suited to the production of Douglas-fir. <br />The steepness of slope limits the kinds of equipment that can be uses <br />in forest management. Th• site index for Douglas-fir is about 50. <br />Moat of this unit ie in scenic Phantom Canyon. Slops limits the <br /> <br />use of areas of this unit mainly to a few paths and trails, which <br />should extend across th• slope. <br />This unit is poorly suited to homasite development. Tha main <br />limitations are steepness of slope and frequent outcrops of bedrock. <br />This map unit is in capability subclass VIIs, nonirrigated. It is <br /> <br />in the Douglas-fir woodland site. <br />~~' <br />
