Rangeland/Wildlife, Cropland, and Pastureland (Hayland).
Only the rangeland wildlife seed mixture will contain introduced species. These species include:
• Pubescent Wheatgrass
• Hard Fescue
• Birdsfoot Trefoil
• Cicer Milkvetch
A discussion of the planned introduced species in included in Section 2.05.4, Reclamation Plan.
Seeding and planting of disturbed aeeas will occur during the first favorable planting period following completion of
topsoil replacement. Permanent seeding will typically occur in the fall.
4.15.4 MIJI,CHING AND OTHER SOIL STABILIZING PRACTICES
CEC plans to utilize specific mechanical soil stabilization practices during regrading, topsoil placement, and seedbed
preparation activities. Backfilled areas will be regraded to the most moderate slope practical consistent with the
designed post-mining topographic configuration. In areas where the post-mining configuration results in long
uninterrupted slopes, CEC plans to utilize small-scale terrace features and contour ditches to limit sheet flow and
minimize erosion. Topsoil material will be replaced along the contour wherever possible and will be left in a
roughened condition to minimize runoff and erosion until a permanent vegetative cover can be established.
r ~
L_J
In areas where the affected land will be returned to apost-mining land use of pastureland (hayland) or
rangeland/wildlife, grazing aeeas and numbers of animals to be grazed will be determined at the time the land is ready
for grazing. Grazing utilization will be controlled by a management plan developed in cooperation with the surface
landowner and the Division. CEC will utilize the grazing management plan to ensure that grazing activities do not
preclude or interfere with post- mining vegetation sampling and evaluation of the success of vegetative
reestablishment.
CEC does not plan to conduct any field trials in conjunction with the planned operation.
4 15 7 DE RMINRJ RE G TATION CCESS• ENE i, REQUIREMENTS AND STANDARDS
In determining revegetation success, the CEC operation is divided into two (2) distinct components: I) those areas
disturbed prior to May 3, 1978, and 2) those areas disturbed after May 3, 1978. Some areas were disturbed prior to
May 3, 1978 and re-disturbed after May 3, 1978. CEC has developed a Reclamation Plan Map (Map 29) which
graphically shows the areas disturbed and dates of disturbance. In addition, CEC had developed a Vegetation Map
(Map 20) which shows the various locations of reference areas to which revegetation success will be judged.
CEC will comply with all standards as set forth in 4.15.7 and 4.15.8. Since many areas affected by the mining
operations were disturbed prior to May 3, 1978, and some areas were re-disturbed after May 3, 1978, the Division is
referred to Section 2.05.4, Reclamation Plan, for revegetation success details.
Permit Renewal No. 3 4.01-10 7/15/98
