1 <br /> <br />' Loveland Clay Loam appears in large areas along t:he total <br />length of the site and is the dominant soil series. This <br />soil is described as moderately deep soils with underlying <br />sand or gravel at depths of 12 to 40 inches. Air, weer and <br />' root penetration is slow, but moisture holding capacity is <br />good. Soils are somewhat poorly drained. Soils are mottled <br />and seasonal water tables occur at depths of 24 to 40 inches. <br />Typically these soils have dark brown, clay loam, topsoils; <br />' and a dark brown grayish brown, clay brown, clay loam, sub- <br />soils. <br />Throughout the west half of the site the Riverwas:h soil <br />series is present largely in areas adjacent to th~~ riverbed. <br />' This series is described as sandy, alluvial, and cobbly <br />land is generally stratified and subject to frequent changes <br />' through stream overflow. Soils are too recent for more than <br />mineral profile development. Drainage is variable due to <br />' water table fluctuations. Moisture holding capacity is <br />poor. Cotton woods and willows are the main species with <br />' various grasses and weeds in more favorable spots.. <br />There are a few deposits of Paoli Fine Sandy Loam along <br />' the north edge, over the west half of the site. This soil <br />series is described as follows: Deep soils with c~ood mois- <br />t ture holding capacity. Air, water and root penetration is <br />good.
