Other, such as safety
and property values, were added as an outcome of the meetings last
year.
Environmental Consequences:
rs section is a res atement of the impacts and how CWI would propose
to mitigate them on each alternative.
Several sub-sections to this section were recommended by BLM and NEPA
to be included. The first addresses Impacts Which Cannot be Avoided
such as soil erosion prior to establishment o~ revetation.
Another sub-section is Irretrievable/Irreversible Commitments of
Resources which again could ~e soiT erosion, or exams ~e soil
t a is ost due to initial erosion during construction is irretriev-
able, but erosion is reversible once vegetation is re-established.
Short-term Use vs. Maintenance and Enhancement of Long-term Produc-
tivity is anot er su -section. n examp a here is t e particu ate
matter that will be released during construction but will be decreased
when the alternative is established.
Cumulative Impacts are impacts that build and accumulate. An example
in t e wou a the cumulative impacts of another alternative on
top of the impact of traffic that already exists on Highway 133.
Critical Elements includes nine elements reviewed by the BLM. This is
a c ec is or LM to check against their policies for compliance.
Included here are:
1) Threatened and Endangered Species
2) Floodplains and Wetlands
3) Visual Resource Management
4) Prime and Unique Farmland
5) Social and Economic Values
6) Cultural and Historical Resource Values
7) Water Quality
8) Air Quality
91 BLM Land Use Plan
J
-4 -
