Safety - The overpass and road would be constructed utiliziny State <br />Highway specifications. No stopping would be necessary to enter the <br />frontage road. <br />17. Operational Efficiency and Reliability - During bad weather and <br />hazardous road conditions, the trucks would be forced to Stop. The <br />trucks would be operated duriny 16-hour periods, <br />18, Construction Impacts - Mostly local labor would be utilized for the <br />construction of the frontage road and overpass. Approximately seven <br />and one-half months would be required for the construction of this <br />alternative. <br />19. Reclamation - Pavement and road base would be removed. Excavated areas <br />would be backfilled, topsoil re-distributed, and the area revegetated, <br />Ayricultural uses of the alluvial valley floor areas would be restored. <br />No postmine land road use is proposed for this frontage road, <br />2f1, Postmining Land Use and Value - It is believed that the rangeland and <br />ayricultural uses wou d be restored to equal or better value upon ces- <br />sation of operations at the Orchard Valley Mine, <br />Comments, Questions, and Responses <br />Question: Would wildlife access through fenced areas be provided? <br />Response; Wildlife underpasses or overpasses would be constructed where <br />. necessary, so as not to block animal miyration to the North Fork <br />of the Gunnison kiver, The Division of Wildlife would he con- <br />sulted when desiyniny any wildlife underpasses or overpasses, <br />Question: Would a conveyor belt or aerial tramway be lighted along its <br />length from the Orchard Valley Mine. <br />Response: Liyhtiny would only be operated where required, and would not be <br />installed if the public did not want it. <br />More detailed meeting notes and tapes are available. <br />a <br />
