5. Tailings from the Mill will be stacked south of the
i~~
Mill on terraces 50' wide.' The terraces will be 5' in height giving
the tailings pile an overall slope of 10%. Tailings will be thickened
to approximately 70% solids and pumped to cyclones which will
discharge the sands to the pile. The cyclones will be moved over
the terrace to deposit a F" layer of tailings and slimes will be
sprayed onto the previously deposited layer of sands. The entire
pile area will be bermed and any drainage from-the pile will be col-
lected and pumped to the Mill.
The area of the tailings pile will be 12.7 acres when
~~
the present reserves are exhausted. Deposition of tailings will
average 2.5' per year in depth. Chemical binders and reclamation
by planting of grass and shrubs on a continuing basis will be used
for prevention of-wind erosion.
Exhibit ~ shows the proposed tailings disposal system.
Mill Process
The mill feed is stored in 50 ton storage bins until it
J~
is run through the crushing plant and reduced to 80% minus 5/16 inch
size and stored in the fine ore bin. The finely crushed ore is then
mixed with water and fed into the ball mill where it is ground to
80% minus 200 mesh. The slurry is then fed to the flotation cells
where a frother and collector are added and air is infected to float
the concentrate away from the gangue. The concentrate is pumped
to a drum filter where the water is removed from the concentrate,
this water is then recycled to the circuit and the concentrate is ready
for shipping. Tailings from the flotation circuit are piped to a
-~ 1t~4377
