Dept. of Natu+u ixsources
Dear Sirs:
Oh August 16, 1978 we received a Certified Letter from Coe,
Van Loo acid Jaschke Engineering, Inc. of Englewood, Colorado, informing us
that 2, p4oli,c hearing upon a Limited Impact Mining and Reclamation Permit
calle& Sb i'er's Crossing File #78-208 concerning property located in
the SW 1/4 of Section 32, Township 6 South, Range 71 West of the 6th PM,
County of Jefferson, Colorado, would be held by your Board and that any
objections to the petition must be filed with your Board by 5:00 p.m. on
August 21, 1978.
We tried to contact your company by telephone upon receipt
of the letter on August 16 but received only busy signals so contacted the
County Clerk and Recorder for Jefferson County and was connected with
Mr. Randy Spydell of the Planning Department. Based upon the limited
inforr6ation Mr. Spydell was able to supply at that time and because of mail
delays and the fact that the deadline for filing the objections was so
closet we sent you a letter of Protest on August 16, 1978. We now wish to
supplement our letter of protest with this second letter of protest. We
have .beeli informed by Mr. Spydell that the hearing will be postponed to
allow &6 adequate time to file this supplemental protest. We appreciate
this extension of time.
We protest the granting of this Limited Impact Mining and
Reclamation Permit for the following reasons:
1. Our property is adjacent on two sides to the property
which the owners have petitioned to be considered for the zoning change. We
are probably the ones whose property would suffer the most damages both
econrmirlly and ecologically by having a mining operation of this type
located "next door".
2. Ecologically, the permit would create a disaster. .A
quick ipppection trip to similar businesses along the Platte River near
Denver -and other locations where quarries and other similar land mining
facilities are located, would convince anyone of this fact. The dust,
noise, and heavy truck traffic would be a menance to any residents living nearby.
J# Mr. At Mu. Clnles A.
