• maintained in permanent vegetation or returned to cropland uses. The lands cuuentiy in CRP will
have reached then• ten-year period during the life-of--mine and thus the final postmitte land use is
uncertain. As stated above, the appropriate cropland or permauent vegetation standazd will be
applied. Finally, the improved pasture-upland type located on the northern end of the haul road
comdor will be reclaimed with the permanent mix for the haul road rnrridor and have the above haul
road corridor cover standard apply. Although this type was reseeded with improved pasture some
years ago, it has not been managed as such and native species have been allowed to gradually invade.
Cover will not be evaluated for any cropland areas of the reclaimed haul road. This is based oa Rule
4.15.9, which states that success of reclamation for cropland will be based on production only.
Covet will be measured as described in Sampling Parameters and Sampling Methodologies in the
Revegetation Monitoring section presented eazlier in this tab, Sample adequacy will be met for both
reclaimed and reference azea sampling where applicable. All sample points will be randomly located.
Production.
• Reclamation success for production in the mine area will be evaluated by comparing herbaceous
production itt the reclaimed areas to the weighted herbaceous production value detemtined from the
extended reference azea. Herbaceous production will be estimated by clipping the current year's
above ground herbaceous biomass randomly located 1/2m2 to 1m2 sample plots. Fendng or
enclosures will be used to exclude livestock prior to sampling, where necessary. Production will not
be evaluated in the shrub and tree establishment sites. These sites aze intended primarily as woody
plant establishment sites. These azeas will be treated to reduce herbaceous competition for increased
woody plant survival
Herbaceous production for the shrub grassland type in the mine azea will be evaluated Eor reclamation
success by comparing dte weighted production value determined from the extended reference azea
vegetation types described under cover to the reclaimed azea herbaceous production value. The
weighted herbaceous production value will be determined by taking the herbaceous production value
for each reference azea type and multiplying it by the acreage occupied by that type in the pterr+ining
surface area. The products of each type will be added and then divided by the acreage total of the
reference area types in the premuilng surface azea to active at the weighted value. Reclamation
• success for herbaceous production shall be met when the value of the reclaimed azea is at least 90
PR-02 38 Revised 01/06
