• Upon completion of mining in an area and within the first several yeazs after revegetation actinides,
revegetation monitoring studies will be conducted. These monitoring studies will provide both the
reclamation manager and postmine manager or landowner with an excellent basis for livestock
stocking rates, carrying capacities, and overall management of the area both during the bond liability
period and after celease of the lands, In addition, wildlife managers will have detailed vegetation data
documenting habitat and the amount and type of food and cover habitat available. Water resources
will be doatmented.
The postmining land uses, achieved through the reclamation and revegetation plans, will thus provide
a high level of utility. It will also improve livestock and wildlife forage resources, aid in mitigating
impacts to wildlife; ensure-the establishment of vegetation that is diverse and self-sustaining; and will
provide the components to reestablish native plant communities over tune through processes of
natural succession.
Postminittg Land Use Management. Management of reclaimed lands will be siaulaz to the
management of the azea prior to minnig. Proper management of reclaimed lands will be stressed
• doting the liability period. Livestock grazing will begin in ]ate Map or early June with areas being
grazed into late September or early October Grazing will not be continuous throughout the growing
season in every year. Where grazing occurs on reclaimed and adjacent lands under control doting the
liability period; area to be grazed, proper stocking rates, and grazing periods will be spedfied to the
grazing lessee. This information will be based on vegetation production data from monitoring
studies, size of pasture units, and management needs such as rest or grazing deferments. Aay interim
fencing will be established towazds the need for special management or consideration of the ongoing
mining operation. The pemtit azea will be fenced to exclude livestock and access to non-mine
personnel However, upon completion of operations and redamadon activities, peunanent feasting
will be emplaced as soon as possible. The fmal fencing patterns will approximate premising patterns
or current property owner boundaries at the time in order to restore the premising pasture units.
Stock ponds removed by mining will be replaced in the postnuning landscape either as dose to the
original location as practicable or is locations to improve management. Additional stock ponds may
be constmcted in drainages to stabilize the landscape and provide additional water. These tanks will
be designed and pemritted as needed (See Exbibit 20-2, Postmining Topography for -ocation).
Sediment ponds will be considered for retention as well.
•
PR-02 6 Revised 0]/06
