i ~
EXHIBIT D -MINING PLAN
The proposed gravel mining operation is bounded on the north by the Colorado River; on the
south by the right of way for Interstate 70; on the east by Mamm Creek and on the west by a
ranch at the end of the frontage road. The permit area was defined using these outside
boundaries. The mining areas are bounded by buffer zones adjacent to the property lines, along
the Colorado River, Dry Creek, Mamm Creek, along the slough on the south edge of the area, or
by fences. For this reason, the mining area is smaller than the permitted area. The proposed
gravel mining operation permit area includes 308.36 acres with the following distribution:
Acres
Mining Area Mining Permit
West End 20.74 31.12 ~

Dry Creek to Slough
12.85
24.11 q
~ , o

Slough to East Property Line
37.86
74.54 v
~ 3 ~ 7 ~
~ `
`~
West Property Line to Horse 51.51 76.13 , ,
.~
(
Fence ~`~, ~ ~ 1
"
~
Renewable Resource 23.72 • -
`~
Future Option Area Snyder 78.41 102.46 `'~~'
Total 225.09 08.36
' This acreage is included in either the Slough to East Property Line or the West
Property Line to Horse Fence Permit Areas.
The mining plan proposes to commence operations in the West Property Line to Horse Fence area
and mine to the west. Generally, the mining operation consists of topsoil removal and stockpiling,
sand and gravel removal, in pit crushing and screening and contemporaneous reclamation after
sufficient area has been mined so the reclamation activities do not interfere with mining. The
topsoil and overburden material from the initial exposing of the gravel will be stockpiled around
the outside edge of the pit along the south side to create a buffer from I-70 and the frontage road.
The topsoil is removed by scrapers when possible or front end loaders and trucks. Stockpiled
topsoil will be seeded with oats and grasses to stabilize the pile and prevent erosion. Seeding will
be done in the fall. Straw or pure wood fiber mulch will be used at the rate of 1,500 Ib. per acre.
When sufficient area has been mined to allow contemporaneous reclamation, the topsoil and
overburden stripped from the gravel will be used to begin creating the post mining topography.
The gravel pits in each mining area are designed to mine from west to east while maximizing the
location of the in pit crushing and screening facilities. Mining is expected to proceed in a circular
fashion around the in pit facilities. The pit slopes used in the design are
• Gravel - 0.40 H : 1 V
• TopsoiVOverburden for heights greater than 10 ft. - 0.70 H : 1 V
