Revised
July 28.1982
• followed. If the terrain is too rough for safe drill operations, roads
and pads will be cut with a track dozer. Safety glasses and respirators
will be available to the driller.
As soon as possible after the coal is removed from the mining area,
reclamation will begin. In general, rough backfilling will be completed
by the overburden trucks when the operation reaches a "steady state".
As stated earlier, overburden material removed ahead of the operation
can be transported by truck around the active coal mining areas and
deposited into mined-out areas. The final grade of the slopes will be
uniform and consistent with the pre-mining topography. Unless a safety
hazard is anticipated, all grading will be completed along the contour
with dozers. At the completion of final grading, subsoil and topsoil
will be distributed over the graded soil. Preparation for seeding will
be achieved through chisel plowing or other acceptable means to eliminate
compaction, create a good bond between soil and spoil, and promote root
penetration. A diverse, effective permanent vegetative cover will be
• established on the re-topsoiled areas as described in Section 2.05.4.
A list of equipment used by the Viking Coal Company is order to perform
the day to day operation of coal mining follows:
769 Caterpillar Trucks
400 Hough Wheeled Loader
72-71 Terex Wheeled Loader
72-51 Terex Wheeled Loader
TD-30 International Track Dozer
AC-21 Allis-Chalmers Track Dozer
TS-24 Terex Scrapers
T-4 Ingersoll-Rand Rotary Drill
White Water Truck

a ~~ ~ 23G
