Revised <br />October 16, 1981 <br />In addition, stockpiles, if necessary, will have ditches constructed <br />around them to divert overland flow. <br />Unnecessary compaction will be avoided by keeping all but scraper, <br />traffic off the stockpile areas. Scrapers, of course, create the <br />stockpile and remove it at the time of redistribution. Contamination of <br />the stockpiles will be eliminated by carefully selecting sites that are <br />distant from the areas where actual mining operations are likely. <br />Drainageways and areas near spoiling or blasting will be avoided. <br />. After the final grading of the spoil is completed, the topsoil will be <br />reapplied as shown on the Topsoil Handling Map (Map 8). Redistribution <br />of the topsoil to the regraded areas will be accomplished in a manner to <br />ensure stable thickness approximating the uniformity of the topsoil <br />found on the site prior to disturbance. Since all available topsoil <br />existing on areas to be disturbed will be removed and reapplied, it will <br />be fully capable of supporting the growth needed for the proposed <br />post-mining land use. Topsoiling will be conducted along the contour <br />across all sites that will be regraded. <br />Following the overburden spoil leveling and soil replacement, soil <br />sampling and testing will be done to determine the nutrient status of <br />the plant growth medium in response to the approved post-mining land use <br />and the revegetation requirements of Section 4.15. <br />Soil collection techniques will involve collecting of samples comprising <br />the total thickness of the reapplied topsoil and subsoil. The soil <br />material will be analyzed according to the soil sampling techniques <br />recommended by the Wyoming Guidelines. Samples will be sampled for <br />parameters including nitrate, nitrogen, phosphorus, organic material, <br />and potassium. The results obtained from these soil tests will be <br />compared with the nutrient levels recommended for plants which are to be <br />reestablished as part of-the post-mining land use described in Section <br />/~ 2.05.5.
