2.06.2 Experimental Practices Mining
No experimental practices for mining
therefore, this Section will not
application.
2.06.3 Mountaintop Removal Mining
will be undertaken by Sunbelt;
be applicable to the permit
No mountaintop mining is planned by Sunbelt; therefore, this Section is
not applicable to the Peacock Coal Mine.
2.06.4 Steen Slone Mini
As discussed in Sections 2.05.3 and 2.05.4, the Peacock Coal Mine
entries are located in an old portal face-up area that has been used
since 1905. The use of these old portal areas will reduce the amount of
disturbance necessary to conduct the underground mining operations.
• These portals are located in an area where the slopes are greater than
20 degrees; and therefore, Sunbelt has the portals on an area which can
be classified as steep slopes.
No reclamation work has been performed on the face-up area and access
road into the portals. This area has remained intact since 1905. No
stability or safety problems with the face-up have been encountered
since that time. Drainage off the portal face-up will be treated
similar to a contour furrow with periodic baffals and with a bench
sloping into the hill. This configuration will prevent drainage from
flowing over the top of the bench. A complete description of the
planned reclamation and revegetation procedures to be used on the
face-up area are set forth in Section 2.05.4.

2.06-2
