Please clarify. <br />RESPONSE: <br />This statement was an oversight by Peerless Resources, Inc. The <br />Division is correct in stating that no additional information on <br />monitoring is found in Section 4.05-13. <br />3. A monitorin ro ram to ensure that no dams a is bein done to the <br />hydro ooic ba ante s ou d be presented in the permit app ication <br />RESPONSE: <br />As stated on page 2.05-35 in the permit application, Peerless Resources, <br />Inc. has applied for an NPDES permit from the Colorado Department of <br />Health, Water Quality Division. All surface water within the affected <br />area of the surface facilities wi1T be channeTized and collected in the <br />sedimentation pond shown on the Mine Facilities Map (Map .12). Water <br />discharged from the sedimentation pond will be monitored according to <br />NPDES requirements. <br />Also, as explained earlier in this response document, Peerless <br />Resources, Inc. will plan to monitor quarterly (for at least 1 year) the <br />surface water stations shown on the Mine Facilities Map (Map 12). <br />Although no major sources of subsurface water are expected within the <br />area to be mined, Peerless Resources, Inc. will nonetheless channel <br />subsurface water interrupted by mining into an underground sump for use <br />as water during underground operations. <br />• The majority of subsurface water expected to be found in the workings <br />will occur during the spring as a result of spring runoff and <br />-56- <br />
