Please discuss hog you
will accomplish this.
9. If any explosives will be used or stored at this site, please contact
Joe M. Nugent with the Colorado Division of Mines at (303) 866-3401 for
any necessary approvals that may be required.
10. Please commit to salvaainp all available topsoil in areas that will be
newly disturbed that have topsoil presently in place. While your
recommendation that 100 ft.3 of topsoil will be replaced over the
5000 square foot area is admirable, this calculates to a replacement
topsoil depth for the 5000 square feet of about one-quarter inch, which
most likely wi]1 be insufficient for reclamation vegetation success.
11. Will you be removing any live trees as part of your operations? If so,
please commit to replacing them after mining ceases on a
two-trees-replanted-for-one-tree-removed basis.
12. Please commit to spreading 500 lbs of cereal grain straw or hay mulch
over the 5000 square feet of reclaimed, reseeded area to help retain soil
moisture for successful reveaetation.
13. I have contacted the Montrose Field Office of the U.S. Soil Conservation
Service regarding the adeouacy of your proposed seed mix. I will contact
you as soon as possible if they have any further suggestions.
DIH/yjb
6935E
