(no larger than 1" = 660 ft.) and revised to show the general
size and layout of the facilities area, the location of
important mine features such as the scale, crusher, water
impoundments, product stockpile areas, new overburden and
topsoil stockpile locations (from operations in areas not
~„ previously mined), and the p` ro osed phased gravel extraction
areas. Also, the Division suggests fha t e oundary and
g~eaeral configuration of the historic disturbed pit areas be
`~ drawn on the map in more detail in order to provide a more
accurate representation of the extent to which the proposed
mine area has been previously disturbed and left in en
unreclaimed condition. Key features such as the larger
J overburden stockpiles, existing highwalls, and the remains of
natural side drainages passing through the old pit areas
should be included.
/~~ ~ B. Additionally, all permanent man made structures existing
on and within 200 ft. of the affected area boundary need to be
shown on an appropriate map within the application. These
~7 structures include such items as houses, barns, powerlines,
~ pipelines, roads, fences, corrals, irrigation ditches, and
water impoundments.
C. The existing topography of the proposed affected area is
~. very difficult to see given the scale and lack of detail on
the map provided with the application. Please provide a
clearer depiction of topographic contours within and adjacent
to the affected area.
D. There appears to be a discrepancy between the proposed
size of the phased gravel extraction areas as discussed in the
operation plan portion of the application (5 acre segments)
~ and in the reclamation plan (10 acre segments). Please
C~;~~ ~ clarify. For all phased mining operations, it is essential
v' that the Division be provided with a maximum proposed
disturbed area acreage figure that can be used as a basis for
calculation of the amount of financial warranty. The total
acreage for all disturbances should be broken down into
logical units such as facilities area, stockpile area,
extraction area, access road, etc. in order to allow a more
accurate calculation of estimated reclamation costs.
1 B. It does not appear that the access road leading to the
2
site from the highway has been included in it's entirety on
the mine plan map. Any new access roads to the operation, or
any existing roads that are improved to provide access to the
operation, need_to be included in the effected__area_acreage_
and shown on the mine plan map. Also, such an expansion of
the affected area may result in new surface owners being
J situated within 200 ft. of the revised affected area boundary.
Each such surface owner will need to be notified per the
requirements of Rule 1.6.2{1)(d).
