EXHIBIT G
WATER INFORMATION
Surface Water
The. Pathfinder Pit is located on a west facing slope, along side State Highway 145. This area
will be mined dry. The proposed operation will not expose groundwater in the area.
The Lake Fork of the San Miguel River flows on the west side of the site approximately 300
feet beyond the permit boundary, and approximately 120 feet below the lowest point of the
mining site.
There are wetlands, including a small water impoundment, inside the permit but they will not
be mined or disturbed. A minimum setback of 100 feet from the edge of the wetlands will be
maintained. No mining disturbance will occur within the setback.
Groundwater
No springs exist in the permit area. The mining will stop above the groundwater table, thus
no groundwater will be exposed in this way.
Consumptive Use
Impacts due to mining could come from two separate sources -water used for dust control
and possibly wash waters used to produce concrete aggregate. Dust control will require
watering of haul routes at specified intervals. The amount will vary depending on time of
year and existing weather conditions. Generally haul routes are watered between May and
September. Water for this use will be purchased and brought to the site in water tank trucks.
Wash waters needed to clean concrete aggregate will also be brought on-site from an outside
source. Groundwater will not be exposed at this site. Evaporative losses to the groundwater
will not occur due to any washing operations.
Water Rights
This operation does not intend to use any water obtained from the site. No water rights are
leased and none will be purchased for this operation.
NPDES Permit and Water Quality
The proposed operation will not discharge duectly to Lake Fork. Since there will be no
direct discharge, an NPDES permit is not required. Stormwater will be discharged from the
site, and a Stormwater Discharge Permit will be obtained from the Colorado Department of
Health. A Stormwater Management Plan will also be prepared for this site.
G-1
