• layer is greenish brown, very gravelly clay loam about three (3) inches <br />thick. The upper four (4) inches of the underlying material is clay. The <br />lower part to 15 inches is extremely shaley clay. Weathered shale occurs <br />at about 15 inches. The soil is mildly alkaline to seven (7) inches and <br />moderately alkaline below that level. Permeability is slow. Available <br />water capacity is very low. Runoff is rapid and the danger or erosion is <br />high. The Cascajo soil is a deep, excessively drained soil formed from <br />gravelly and sandy alluvium. Slope is 10 to 40 percent. Typically, the <br />surface layer is very dark grayish brown, very gravelly sandy loam about <br />six (6) inches thick. The upper 15 inches of the underlying material is <br />extremely cobbly sandy loam. The lower material to a depth of 60 inches <br />is extremely cobbly sand. The soil is moderately alkaline. It has a high <br />content of accumulated calcium carbonate between six (6) to 21 inches. <br />Permeability is moderately rapid to rapid, available water capacity is <br />low. Runoff is moderate to very high. The danger or erosion is moderate <br />to very high. The dominant plant community is grassland. The major land <br />• use is for rangeland. <br /># 79 Nunn clay loam. This deep, well drained soil found on fans, fan <br />terraces and foot slopes formed in alluvium. Typically, the surface layer <br />is brown clay loam about 4 inches thick. The subsoil is clay loam about <br />28 inches thick. The substratum to a depth of 60+ inches is clay loam. <br />Slope is 2 to 8 percent. The soil is neutral to a depth of 10 inches and <br />moderately alkaline below that .depth. Permeability is moderately slow to <br />slow. Available water capacity is high. Runoff is slow to rapid and the <br />danger of erosion is slight to high. The potential plant community is <br />grassland. Land usage is for rangeland. <br />N 100 Sedillo cobbly sandy loam. This deep, well drained soil, found on <br />fan terraces, was formed in calcareous gravelly and cobbly alluvium. <br />Typically, the surface is covered with 20 to 50 percent pebbles, cobbles, <br />and stones. The surface layer is brown, cobbly sandy loam about 5 inches <br />thick. The subsoil is very gravelly sandy clay loam about 4 inches thick. <br />• The underlying material to a depth of 60 inches is very gravelly sandy <br />loam. Slopes are 4 to 25 percent. The soil is mildly alkaline to a depth <br />of 9 inches and moderately alkaline below that depth. Permeability is <br />moderate. Available water capacity is low.
