Mined Land Reclamation Board
1313 Sherman Street
Denver, ~~0 80203-2273
Dear Reclamation Board:
~~III~~~~I~~II~~'~~ •
sss
479 County Road 83
Boulder, CO 80302
August 22, 1988
This letter is in response to the points which have been raised in
objection to the permit application called the Phil Sheridan Lode, filed
by Harry D. Covey and accepted as complete on August 4, 1988.
1. Noise Pollution: This operation will initially create no more noise
than the construction of a house. Once the surface preparation is complete
there will be very little noise, since this is an underground operation.
2. Water Contamination: We do not intend to encounter water at the level
of our operation, since the water table in this area is approximately
200' below the surface. In the event this does happen, all water quality
is controlled by the Colorado Department of Public Health.
3. Truck Traffic: County Roads 52 and 83 are public roads which allow
usage by all citizens. Trucks and other vehicles are controlled and
regulated by the Colorado Motor Vehicles Division.
4, Dust: County Road 52 is all paved from the junction of County R.-~~d
83, Eastward to Boulder. This section of road creates very little dust
by vehicular traffic. County Road 83 is a gravel road and does generate
some vehicular dust. However, once again, each citizen has the right
to usage of these roads. This operation will create no more dust than
the vehicles of other residents,
5. Explosives Storage: We have decided to utilize a safer type of
explosive than dynamite as suggested by Mr. Joe Nugent of the Colorado
Division of Mines. This type is a two-part mixture that becomes explosive
only when mixed together at the actual time of blasting. Storage is
completely safe as separate components. The Colorado Division of Mines
regulates storage of explosives very closely and will be inspecting this
operation.
6. Environmental Impact: We seriously doubt that anyone will even notice
the difference when this operation commences, since it will be small.
Therefore, the impact upon the environment, persons and wildlife will
be so minimal as to be non-existent.
7. Illegal Trespass: The illegal trespass concerns have been reconciled
by current surveys by Mr. Gramillion of Boulder. There is no valid
argument: here.
~~~~~~~~
!IU G 2 31989
P~4!NED LAND
~tFC! .4A~.4T!ON DIVISION
