• 4.20 SUBSIDENCE CONTROL <br />4.20.1 General Requirements <br />Sunbelt will plan and conduct its mining activities so as to prevent <br />subsidence, to the extent technologically and economically feasible, and <br />to maintain the value and reasonably forseeable use of surface lands. <br />This will be accomplished according to the requirements found in Section <br />2.05.6. <br />The planned underground mining technique is room and pillar; the mine <br />plan to be utilized is shown graphically on the Mine Plan Flap (Map 8). <br />4.20.2 Public Notice <br />A notice of mining•by Sunbelt will be published in the Durango Herald. <br />This notice will identify the specific areas in which mining will take <br />• place, the dates of mining activities, the measures to be taken to <br />prevent or control adverse surface effects. Sunbelt will notify by mail <br />all owners of property within the area above the underground workings <br />and adjacent areas. <br />The public notice containing the mining schedule is contained as Exhibit <br />5, Newspaper Advertisement/Proof of Publication. <br />4.20.3 Surface Owner Protection <br />There are no dwellings or structures on lands overlying the coal to be <br />mined nor on adjacent lands which might be subject to potential <br />subsidence. Therefore, this Section is not applicable to the Peacock <br />Coal Mine. <br />`J <br />4.20-1 <br />
