• 4.05.13 Surface and Groundwater Monitori
Because no groundwater has been or is expected to be encountered, no
groundwater monitoring is planned.
The planned surface water monitoring plan includes monitoring required
under an NPDES Permit to be issued by the Colorado Department of Health.
Surface water monitoring. locations are shown on the Drainage and
Sediment Control Plan Map (Map 6). Surface water samples will be
analyzed for pH, total suspended solids (TSS), total dissolved solids
(TDS), iron, manganese, oil and grease content, and other parameters
that may be required by the NPDES Permit. Sunbelt will measure the
quantity and quality of any discharge from the sedimentation pond in
compliance with the NPDES Permit.
Sunbelt will report on discharge in accordance with the Clean Water Act
of 1977 under an NPDES Permit on an annual basis; therefore, Sunbelt
• will plan to use the NPDES report for filing with the Division.
Following the cessation of use of underground mine workings, Sunbelt
will continue to monitor surface water flow and quality until determined
that the reclamation has met the requirements of Section 4.05, such that
the disturbance has minimized any impact to the prevailing hydrologic
balance and the post-mining land use has been attained. Equipment,
structures, and other devices necessary to measure and sample the
quality and quantity of surface water discharge will be removed when no
longer needed at the mine site.
4.05.14 Transfer of Wells
Sunbelt does not plan to transfer any monitoring wells to water wells.
4.05.15 Water Rights and Replacement
. Sunbelt does not anticipate that any water supply or water right of any
owner of interest will be affected by the mining operation.
4.05-8
