~J
Mineral Potential
• _q_
The subject tract may be underlain at depth by a down dropped block of
Precambrian or Paleozoic rocks. These rocks with the existence of faults may
provide favorable conditions for ore deposition. Any deposits are completely
blind and exploration would be expensive and.very risky. The overall
potential for such deposits would be low to very low.
The proximity to the mountain front and the normal faulting prevalent there
makes the existence of oil and gas deposits unlikely. The area is generally
unexplored but potential is low to very low.
The tract is approximately 12 miles south and southwest of two geothermal
water producing areas. Both have been used for recreational and health
purposes. The mineral hot springs area south of Villa Grove has individual
interest in development of geothermal waters for agricultural purposes. The
location of the tract and the above average heat flow in the the San Luis
Valley makes geothermal potential low to moderate in the area.
