• <br />REPiltl" <br />OF A <br />rv11NERAL EVALUATION <br />SCOPE <br />This report presents tlrn results of a mineral evaluation prepared <br />for the proposed gravel pit located south of the Sox Elder Creek <br />Uralnage and west of County iload 19 in larimer County, Colorado. The <br />evaluation was carried out by means of test borlnys, engineering <br />evaluation, end preparation of this report. <br />The objectives of this evaluation were to (1) determine the depth of <br />overburden and thickness of sand and gravel encountered at the site and <br />(2) determine the quality of overburden and sand and gravel <br />encountered. <br />SITE EXPLOFATION <br />• <br />The field exploration, carried out on August 15 and 16, 1983, <br />consisted of drilllnu, logging, and sampling seven (7) test borings to <br />depths fifty (50) feet below [he surface. The depth and locations of Lila <br />test borlnys were directed by the Larimer County Engineering <br />Department. The locations of the tnst borlnys are shown oil the Test <br />Boring Location Plan Included In Appendix A of this report. Boring lugs <br />prepared from the Fleld logs are shown In Appendix A. These logs show <br />soils encountered, location of sampling, and groundwater at the time of <br />the investigation. <br />The borlnys were advanced with a four-inch diameter, contlnuous- <br />type, power-flight auger drill. During the drilling operations, a <br />geotechnlcal engineer from Empire Laboratories, Inc. was present acid <br />made continuous observations of the soils encountered. <br />• <br />
