It formed in material <br />weathered from shale. The average annual precipitation is about 15 <br />to 17 inches, the average annual air temperature is about 41 to 43 <br />degrees F, and the frost-free season is 75 to 95 days. <br />Small areas of Abor silty clay loam and Absher fine sandy loam <br />are included in mapping. Small areas with stones on the surface are <br />included. <br />Typically the surface layer is dark grayish brown silty clay <br />loam about 4 inches thick. The subsoil is brown silty clay about 42 <br />inches thick. The 'substratum is light yellowish brown silty clay <br />to 60 inches or more. <br />Permeability is very slow. Available water capacity is high, <br />Effective rooting depth is 60 inches or more.
