ADDITIONS AND DELhTIONS Ta C-JD-6 MII~ APPLICATION
1. A. Additional acreage has been added to extend the waste dump, so
that the total disturbed acreage is now 6.24 acres. the additional
fee should be $45.20, $95.00 less a balance of $49.80.
2. A. Exhibit A should include the following statement: All legal descrip-
tions should contain N.M.P.M."after township and range.
3. A. Cotter Corporation and Kelmine mine separate claims, sharing a common
portal and surface facilities, except for separate ventholes and roads
leading to these ventholes. Kelmine is the contractor for Cotter's
JD-6 operations and holds the lease to the ground on which the shared
surface area exists. therefore, the affected acreage has been divided
such that Cotter has claimed its separate waste dumps, ventholes, and
roads to these ventholes as affected acreage, while Kelmine has claimed
the remainder. Cotter's affected acreage is shaded in on the updated
msp, C-2. Kelmine's affected acreage has been filed under the name
of Mineral Joe.
B. As stated in the original application, the applicability of a timetable
of surface disturbance to an underground mini ~ plan is questionable.
All surface disturbance arrnmd the portal area has been done, with the
exception of gradual growth of the waste dump. However, this growth
has been projected roughly and accrnmted for in the permitted acreage.
Surface ventholes will be constructed within several years. Again, this
acreage has been accrnmted for (see Exhibit C-2), but msy require a
technical revision to change its location. The life of the mine is
projected to be between fifteen and twenty years. -
C. There is minimal surface disturbance inwlved in the drilling of a
venthole. A drilling rig will drive to the proposed site and drill a
hole which will be somewhere between 48 inches and 84 inches in
diameter. The cuttings (crushed rock from the hole) will fall down
into the mine and be removed as waste. A concrete pad will be constructed
approximately 16 feet in diameter and 2 feet thick, and a fan installed.
the fan will be capable of operating as incast or outcast and will
stand about three feet high.
D. Response to this question is to be separately submitted.
E. the JD-6 Mine produces a total yearly tonnage of less than 70,000 tons
of ore and waste combined.
F. JD-98 is a hole drilled by the federal government in the 1950's. 'the
mine is being driven toward this hole under~oind and the surface is
in no way being affected. Therefore, ttu's hole is not on the map, in
the reclamation plan, etc.
G. The ore stockpile is located within the affected acreage claimed by
Kelmine Corporation in the Mineral Jce application.
