C~
Department of Natural Resources -4-
1D. Concerning Area A, what will be th
tailings pile? Will drainage control
erosion for final reclamation?
Apr~l 26, 1985
i
e final reclaimed sloes of this
need to be implemented to minimize
Area A will have a final reclaimed slope of nearly hori ontal to a /
maximum of 3:1 on the peripheral of the revegetated ta'ls. This
should provide for a stable land form compatible to the fi al land use
of the permit area. The reclamation of the tailing will be ccomplished
with sufficient reconstructed drainage and contoured in manner to
reduce erosion, especially during revegetation.
The final overall reclaimed slope of area of Phase I will~be 3:1 and
will reflect the natural topography. Soil amendment addition will depend
on soil tests conducted prior to seed as outlined in Exhibit ,paragraph
17. Until the planting medium can be tested later during th season of
1985, it cannot be determined if soil amendments are nee ed and the ~
application rate to maximize the success of the revegetati n program.
Minerals, Inc. probably added soil amendments to their test plot.
•
11. It is stated that all water impoundments will be remov d. Roads,
facilities, pipelines, trash, and old equipment are not mentioned.
Please address the removal and associated reclamation of th se items.
Upon the completion of the project, the portable mill willl`be removed
from the permit area as well as the rolling stock and support vehicles. /
The upper metal pipeline which runs from Penn Creek to the of equipment
site will 6e left since its grade has already revegetat d and its /
removal will create a greater environmental impact than r maining in
place. The lower P.V.C. line will be removed and, if necessar ,portions
of the grade will be seeded by broadcasting of the same see mix as is
approved on the rest of the permit area.
The accessways not necessary for the access to the other mi ing claims
and Forest Service land of Penn Mountain will be reclai~ed in the
permit area.
The trash generated from the mining of the permitted ar a will be
removed and disposed of to legal and designated dumps in P rk County. ~
The mining of the project will not generate large volumes of rash. Old
abandoned equipment left from previous operators will not a removed
unless it becomes necessary in the mining of the permit a a. Since
the mining of the permit area will not disturb the larger pieces of ~
the old stationary mill, it will be left as it was found.
~J
12. It is noted that Native Pines are mapped on one of your ma s. Is it
feasible to plant trees in the areas where little or no tops it will be
replaced?
