' EXHIBIT D
RECLAMATION PLAN
OVERVIEW: The primary goal of the reclamation plan is to create
a larger useful land surface for the sawmill operation. The mining
' of the gravels will accomplish that end. Slopes above the pit
bottom will not be useful in the sawmill operation and therefore
revegetation will be applied to those areas . In the unlikely event
the sawmill operation closes before the successful revegetation of
the pit slopes then the revegetation applied to the slopes would
also be applied to the pit bottom, unless a subsequent owner and
successor to this permit desired to use the land for other
' purposes . Otherwise, once the slopes have been successfully
reclaimed the reclamation plan will be considered completed.
' SELECTED FINAL LAND USE: As stated above , the primary final land
use for the reclamation will be as a sawmill operation with
-, revegetated side slopes above the sawmill operation. Because the
area of the slopes is so small it is unlikely it would be useful
' for grazing, but it would serve a wildlife habitat function.
GRADING: Exhibit E-2 , Reclamation Plan Map, shows the approximate
' final configuration of the nd a t inin and reclamation is
completed. iti `'tt1is
Only the north and east sides
of a site will have moderately steep slopes . Although less steep
slopes might be more desirable in those areas , previous operators
V mined to or very near the property boundary. This leaves little
material available for slope reduction and therefore the slopes
must be somewhat steeper than ideal . However, it is not expected
that the gradients proposed will present severe problems .
' The grading plan over most of the site will not require much
backfilling. .pyo-
-
will.] y., `easy. 4WA :north side of.4. ;
.,. s< Slijil.. thM W711 primarily
' a cut an .1 opera ioa o reduce the steepness of the
slope.
' Refuse in the eastern portions of the permit will be removed
prior to slope reduction.
SPECIAL NOTE
' It needs to be pointed out that this permittee has never
removed material from the east side of the operation. The
' condition of this area is as it was when the land was acquired.
All mining in this area occurred prior to this permittee . This
operator believes that much of the disturbance in this area existed
' prior to 1976 and therefore may be pre-law. Although the operator
1
I
